Funded by the European Union. Views and opinions expressed are however those of the author(s) only and do not necessarily reflect those of the European Union or the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA). Neither the European Union nor EACEA can be held responsible for them.

We invite schools to participate with us in the WISE-ME project.

What is the aim of the project?

Given the growing phenomenon of misinformation and fake news, as well as the intensive use of social networks, we believe it is important to support teachers and students in primary and secondary schools (12-17 years old) in this area. Our goal is to provide teachers with innovative resources to improve their media and digital literacy skills so that they can promote these skills among their students and in the classroom.

How do we do this?

The project will take place in several phases and will result in a range of resources that will be available to teachers and students:

  • A teacher’s manual that will introduce specific didactic practices for working with social media in relation to misinformation and fake news,
  • An online learning platform that will provide autonomous support for teachers and students to address the approach of disinformation and fake news using social media as a learning environment,
  • An educational chatbot with artificial intelligence that will help students autonomously address doubts and information needs regarding misinformation and fake news using social media as a learning environment.

Who are we working with to create the materials?

The project involves partners from six European countries: Spain, Austria, Denmark, Greece, Bulgaria and the Czech Republic.

Expertise in didactics is provided by the involvement of experts from the University of Nebrija in Madrid. Associate Professor Ana Pérez Escoda from the University of Nebrija, who is involved in the implementation of the project, works in the field of information and communication technologies at the Faculty of Communication and Arts of the University of Nebrija and is an expert in digital communication, media, social networks and digital and media literacy.

An introduction to the project partners can be found on the project website.

What is the timetable of the project?

The project will take place in several phases and will result in a range of resources that will be available to teachers and students:

  • May and June 2024: A questionnaire focusing on students‘ and teachers‘ use of social media will ensure the development of relevant materials for teachers and students
  • July – December 2024: Development of tools for teachers and students
  • January 2025: Testing of tools with participating teachers and students
  • February 2025+: Training of participating teachers and students and use of tools. Platform and AI chatbot will be available to teachers and students

The tools are meant to reflect the real needs of teachers and students, so we need feedback from you teachers and your students now: so get involved in the ONGOING QUESTIONNAIRE. For more information and links to the survey, please contact us at: aktivitydoskol@odpovednaspolecnost.cz.
